E. coli outbreak infections associated with romaine lettuce from Salinas, CA.

Dear client,

We want to reassure and inform you about the E. coli outbreak infections associated with the romaine lettuce from Salinas, California broadcast by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States (U.S CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration in the United States (U.S. FDA) of November 22nd.

We are very concerned about food safety to ensure that the product we deliver to you complies with regulations and is safe for your health. We want to make sure that we work with suppliers and producers who are also very conscientious about food safety.

Currently, we have decided to stop the sale of all Romaine products from Salinas and all products containing romaine that are the subject of the outbreak notice in order to ensure the quality and safety of products until we are certain of the conformity of the product.

We recommend that you do not buy or consume any Romaine or Romaine-containing products that come from Salinas. We suggest you purchase the following products as a substitute:

  • Whole Iceberg Lettuce- Code 2000 & code 2002
  • Whole Leaf Lettuce- Code 2050
  • Spring mix- Code 1594
  • Arcadian Mix Lettuce- Code 2075
  • Romaine Hearts 12X3 (origin Yuma, Arizona) – Code 2159
  • Romaine 24’s (origin Yuma, Arizona)- Code 2140
  • Chopped romaine- 2152

In order to verify the origin of the product that you have already received or that you will receive, check the sticker of the producer. On the sticker, it says “Grown in”, then the source. Be careful, on some labels, there is also the address from where the head office is located. Make sure to rely on where the product was harvested.
